When you move somewhere new, it takes time to make it yours — to find your own routes, your own coffee shops, your tribe, your real reason for being there. Five months is not a long time, and I still have a lot to learn, but it's comforting to feel like I've made it home, even if a lot of that feeling comes from within.

For me, it was making peanut butter cookies with my grandmother as a kid. She never used a recipe so they always came out slightly different – sometimes crumbly, sometimes chewy – but it was the memory of baking with her that’s fondly and deliciously imprinted in my mind.
